Sethi calls on Advisor Bhatnagar, seeks revival of Football in Jammu

JAMMU, Jan 29: In a significant move towards revitalizing the football culture in the Jammu Division, a delegation of All J&K Sports & Cultural Welfare Association, J&K UT, led by its Chairman Yudhvir Sethi, who is also the Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, J&K, today called on Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor.  The delegation, including Yousuf Don, General Secretary, Charanjit Singh Bagga, football player and Raman Sharma, Mandal President, brought attention to the unfortunate state of affairs persisting in Jammu for the past six years.
During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the urgent need for the revival and development of football in the Jammu Division, particularly focusing on creating more opportunities for emerging football talent. A memorandum of demands was also submitted to address the key issues affecting the football landscape in the region.
The delegation outlined the challenges faced by Jammu Division and proposed several actionable points for the revival and development of football. The delegation highlighted include the lack of football fields, absence of coaches and Khelo India Centres, insufficient football academies, dearth of tournaments, and the need for financial aid to deserving football clubs.
The delegation suggested formation of government department football teams exclusively for Jammu Division, the construction of a synthetic turf stadium with floodlights, the establishment of football academies for boys and girls, and the development of additional football fields in far-flung areas to engage youth and deter them from negative influences.
Yudhvir Sethi urged the AdvisoHe requested the Advisor to take initiative in resolving internal disputes and court cases affecting the football standards in the Union Territory. Advisor Bhatnagar gave a patient hearing to the issues put forth by the delegation and assured to take adequate steps in boosting football in Jammu and Kashmir.
