CU honours Sumit for breaking Asian record

JAMMU, Feb 2: Sumit Thakyal has won the title ‘Strongman of Asia’ in an International event by breaking the Asian record in 52-Kg category in Dead Lift.
Sumit Thakyal had participated in the Asian Bench Press Deadlift & Strict Curl Championship held at Dubai from January 27 to 29, 2024, where he won two Gold medals in Deadlift and Benchpress events. He also broke the Asian record in the 52 kilogram category in Dead Lift event by lifting 177.5 KG and won the title of ‘Strongman of Asia’ and selected for upcoming commonwealth championship.
He was honoured by Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, Prof. Bechan Lal where Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu, Prof. Ranvijay Singh, Dean Student’s Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Director Physical Education & Sports, Cluster University of Jammu, Neenu Sawhney, Physical Director, Govt. MAM College were also present and appreciated the achievement.
