SRINAGAR, Feb 3: A senior Government functionary on Saturday said the necessary system is in place for the successful hosting of the fourth edition of the Khelo India Winter Games scheduled to take place at the renowned ski resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla district.
The games were initially planned for February 2-6 but had to be postponed due to an extended dry spell in Kashmir. The Khelo India Winter Games will now start at Gulmarg from February 21-26.
“The necessary system is in place for the successful hosting of the games and the administration is diligently adding final touches to the arrangements to ensure the event’s success,” Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa told reporters at Gulmarg after chairing series of meetings to ensure proper arrangements are in place for the successful execution of the sports extravaganza.
Minga Sherpa accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Amod Nagarpure visited Gulmarg and held a series of meetings.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority, Sub Divisional Megistrate Gulmarg and officers from various line departments besides various associations and other stakeholders were present in the meeting, an official spokesman said.
During the meeting, the DC conducted a comprehensive review of arrangements for the successful hosting of the Winter Games and instructed all the line departments to work in cohesion for seamless execution.
Additionally, Minga Sherpa directed the officers to ensure the proper system is in place and proactively address any bottlenecks experienced in previous editions of the games. (UNI)
