Hardeep, Erin win All India Tennis TS7 titles

JAMMU, Feb 9: Hardeep Singh Soodan in boys category and Erin Mir in girls section won All India Tennis TS7 Under-16 Boys & Girls Championship organized by Jammu & Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council which concluded at Maulana Azad Stadium, here today.
A total of 21 boys and 8 girls drawn from Haryana, Delhi, Punjab & J&K participated in the tournament. In Boys’ singles final Hardeep Singh Soodan defeated Aryan Razdan by 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) and in Girls’ singles final, Erin Mir defeated Anandita Gurung by (8-5).
Earlier, in Boys’ semi-finals Hardeep Singh Soodan beat Aahan by (8-0) and Aryan Razdan defeated Abhirath Thappa by (8-1).
General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association (JKLTA) Er B.S Jaggi received the Chief Guest Subash Chander Chibber, Director Youth Services and Sports J&K. Other dignitaries were Jitender Mishra, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports and Rajeev Sharma and CSO, Mohd Hanief, Dr Zaffar Iqbal, Sheikh Riaz Ahmad, Er Atul Gupta and former Minister, RS Chib.
Er BS Jaggi also discussed with the Chief Guest the issue of lack of tennis infrastructure in schools and urged him to formally introduce Tennis in school curriculum.
Prominent among others were the team JKLTA led by Captain Murti Gupta, President, Hanumant Singh, Vice President, Amit Gupta, Treasurer, Executive Members, Vishal Bharti, Navneet Sharma, Arun Gupta, Col. JDS Kotwal, Aastha Jain, Nasreen Khan, Seema Murti, Nidhi Sharma and Archa Jain.
