JAMMU, Feb 10: Former MLA and vice president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Indu Pawar cautioned the people against freebies being announced by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.
“Freebies being distributed by the NDA Government have started showing its bad effects because instead of exploring opportunities for employment, people have become habitual of such freebies”, Pawar said while addressing a meeting of Congress workers of Jammu North Constituency.
She said the Government must come out with comprehensive employment and self-employment schemes to engage such people in positive directions. Pawar further said that due to these freebies many people became drug addicts and some of them involved in criminal activities.
Exhorting party workers to strengthen the party at the grassroot level, Pawar said that during the Congress rule comprehensive policies were formulated for the development of all sections of the society.
She said that BJP is claiming that everything was done in the last 10 years but reality is that the country is progressive since 1947 and successive Congress Governments have played a very important role in the development and progress of the nation.
Pointing to a report of missing women in the country, she said over 10,000 women have been missing in different parts of J&K during the last two to three years.
