Swami Vivekananda’s teachings more relevant today: Scholars

JAMMU, Feb 14: The teachings of Swami Vivekananda were totally relevant today when the nation needed more spiritual strength to combat adverse forces from within and outside said Ashok Raina Sanchalk Uttar Prant Vivekananda Kendra Kanaya Kumari while highlighting the teachings of Swami Vivekananda at a function organised in the Government Mixed Higher Secondary School at Purkhoo Camp.
He said teachings of this revolutionary saint were based on to bring the younger generation close to their spiritual and cultural roots. The function was organized by Vivekananda Kendra Kanaya Kumari.  He said that the character of Swami Vivekananda was an inspiration to the youth and his teachings were contemporary. He said that youth could cultivate the qualities of courage and spiritual strength by following his teaching as his thoughts were very scientific in nature.
Prof (Dr) Ritu Bakshi Dean Students Welfare Central University , who was the chief guest said that  Swami Vivekananda is a major source of inspiration being a matchless personality. She stressed on self-introspection and manifestation of divinity within.
Lok Nath Bhat  Principal Government Mixed  Higher Secondary School Purkhoo Camp  in his presidential address said that  young people must come forward to follow the footprints of Swami Ji  so that his dream of  Modern India comes true. The results of the General Awareness Test  organized on December 3, last year  in which students of Vishwa Bharti School Akalpur,  Government Mixed  Higher Secondary School Purkhoo,  Coventry Scholars Chinore, Shemford School Wanpoh, K.C.International School and of GD Goenka  and KV Bantalab participated were announced today and the 19 winners were given mementos and a citation on this occasion. The programme started with Shanti mantras by Deepak Goja.
Those who had rendered service during the awareness test were also presented citations of appreciation. Riddhi Raina Class VIII student anchored the programme and Siya, another Class VIII student recited song on the occasion. The girls of Government Mixed Higher Secondary School Purkhoo presented Saraswati Vandna and  Himani Sharma spoke on Vivekananda’s life. Sameer Tickoo presented a vote of thanks.
