JAMMU, Feb 13: The Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra today inaugurated Mandal Holi Cup, Cricket Tournament here at Mandal.
The tournament is being organized by the local Panchayat.
As many as 16 teams from across the Jammu district are participating in this tournament.
The inaugural match was played between United Cricket Club, Digianavs Kona Cricket Club, Digiana. The Kona Cricket Club won the toss and decided to field first.
The Minister appreciated the organizers for holding the tournament to provide the rural youth an opportunity to show their talent in the field. He hoped that the tournament would help to bring forth the hidden talent in the rural Jammu in the famous sport of Cricket. He impressed upon the players of the participating teams to play with sportsmen spirit.
Highlighting the importance of the games, he said sports imbibe discipline and self-confidence in the youth and help in their overall personality development.
Mr. Sadhotra stressed upon the youth toactively participate in the sports activities side by side their studies.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sadhotra also distributed cheques among the beneficiaries under Rural Sanitation Scheme for the construction of toilets.
