JAMMU, Feb 18: Jammu Sanskriti School (JSS) Jammu hosted first of its kind a groundbreaking Global Sustainability Fest aimed at raising awareness and promoting action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The fest marked the commencement in the benign presence of Dr Ashok Pandey – An education leader and Innovator who was the keynote speaker of the day. Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director, J&K Trade Organization, Prof Yashpal Sharma, Professor in Department of Botany, Jammu University, Dr Amandeep Kour Anand-MD, MAMS, FICOG, FICS, CIMP, RCOG Associate Consultant Gynecologist & HOD DNB OBGYN Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, Dr Roopali Slathia Physical Director, GDC RS Pura and Dr Alka Sharma were the panelists. Global Sustainability Fest served as a platform to engage participants in meaningful dialogue surrounding the 17 SDGs established by the United Nations to address pressing environmental, social, and economic issues.
Students from different schools of Jammu exhibited and portrayed how well sustainability can be achieved by showcasing their 17 SDG goals in a diligent manner which was appreciated by keynote speaker and other panelists.
Rohini Aima, Principal Cum Vice-Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The Global Sustainability Fest underscores our school’s commitment to nurturing responsible global citizens who are passionate about creating positive change. By empowering our students to understand and act upon the SDGs, we are fostering a culture of sustainability and social responsibility.”
