JAMMU, Feb 25: Followers of Sant Shri Asaram Bapu have demanded the release of the saint facing imprisonment allegedly on rape charges as his health is deteriorating with every passing day.
In a press conference here today N.S Chib, Jammu secretary of the organisation started by Asaram said that Bapu has been deprived of proper treatment which is violation of his human and constitutional right.
He also said that there is demand by Shri Yoga Vedanta Seva Samitis and many Hindu organizations that the government should provide relief to Bapu to have medical treatment as per his wish as soon as possible.
Chib informed that health of 86 year old saint languishing in Jodhpur Jail allegedly under false charges is very critical.
“Before going to jail, Bapu was only suffering from trigeminal neuralgia and back pain but the stressful jail environment for more than 11.5 years has infected him with heart ailments, prostate cancer, arthritis and anaemia,” he maintained adding: “Bapu Asaram Ji remained in CCU at AIIMS, Jodhpur from January 13 to February 6, 2024 and as per AIIMS report he has 3 severe blockages in heart.”
Chib also said that Bapu Ji is continuously bleeding due to which his haemoglobin level is continuously falling.
“In view of his serious health condition, an application for parole was recently moved which was cancelled ignoring severity of his disease,” he further said.
Many other followers of Bapu said that the saint has devoted his entire life for the welfare of society and he should be provided relief for getting proper treatment.
They said that if the government has released ministers and other bigwigs facing grave charges on health grounds then why similar treatment is not being given to Asaram.
