CHOULAHA (R S PURA), Feb 16: Observing that cosmetic steps and false promises are not going to give any political benefit to the ruling National Conference, patron of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that present dispensation has been exposed before the masses due to its misdeeds and mal-administration. He said that during its five and half year tenure, the present regime has betrayed people through its deceit tactics.
Addressing an impressive public meeting at village Choulaha in R S Pura Assembly segment, he said that prevailing anarchy and chaos in the State was result of the mis-governance of the present dispensation headed by National Conference. “Only an accountable and people friendly Government can help in restoring political stability in Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and reminded the people that during its tenure PDP had provided a corruption free transparent system to the people.
He said that it was all due to the good governance of PDP that people’s faith in democratic institutions was restored and there was political stability in the State during the tenure of PDP led regime.
“PDP led regime had set an example of good governance in the State by providing a corruption free and transparent system to the people”, he said and added that PDP led regime had brought transparency and accountability in the governance and justice was given to sections of the society.
He reminded the gathering that PDP during its tenure had fulfilled the promises which the party had made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in 2002 Assembly elections. “Although we had only 16 members yet we had changed socio-economic scene of the state besides creating a sense of security among the common masses”, he said and added biggest achievement of PDP was that it had earned credibility of the people through its conviction and commitment.
“Unlike National Conference, PDP leadership has never compromised with its principles for the power”, he asserted and reminded the gathering PDP had entered into an power sharing alliance with Congress in the year 2002 only after formulation of Common Minimum Programme (CMP)- an agenda to run the coalition. “Attaining power is not agenda of the party”, he said.
Responding to the demands raised by locals, Mufti promised that PDP after getting power would make R S Pura a model constituency in J&K. He recalled his tenure as MLA of this segment in early 1980s.
