IISM Gulmarg concludes 5th Snow Skiing Course

GULMARG, Feb 28: The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg concluded its 5th Snow Skiing Course. The course aimed to provide participants with comprehensive training in snow skiing techniques and safety.
The 14 day course witnessed the participation of 90 enthusiastic individuals from various backgrounds. Under the guidance of experienced instructors and trainers, the participants underwent rigorous training sessions that covered both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The General Commanding Officer (GOC) 19 Infantry Division, Major General Rajesh Sethi was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. He motivated students to excel in their skiing skills and embrace the values of friendship and unity during his speech. He emphasized the importance of adventure education and referred to the snow skiing students as the ambassadors of India.
Throughout the course, participants learned essential skiing techniques, including proper body positioning, balance, turning, and stopping. They also received training on safety measures, avalanche awareness, and rescue techniques, ensuring their preparedness for any unforeseen circumstances in snow-covered terrains.
The participants showcased remarkable progress and dedication throughout the course, with many mastering the basic skiing skills and gaining confidence on the slopes. The IISM instructors provided individual attention and personalized guidance to ensure the participants’ growth and improvement.
