POONCH, Feb 28: A rusted grenade was recovered in Mankot sector of Mendhar sub division of Poonch district today.
According to information, a contingent of the Indian Army was on patrol when a rusty grenade was recovered near the Line of Control in Balnoi area of Mankot sector. As soon as the information was received, the Army’s bomb disposal squad reached the spot, after which the grenade was taken to a safe place and defused.
Meanwhile, State investigation Agency with the assistance of J&K Police bomb disposal squad destroyed six Chinese grenades at river side near Sher e Kashmir bridge in Poonch.
Official sources said that these grenades along with other arms and ammunition were recovered last year and on the order of Principal District and Session judge Poonch, these were destroyed in the presence of magistrate.
