SRINAGAR, Feb 18: The DIG North Kashmir Range, J P Singh, today inaugurated basic skiing training course at Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering Gulmarg for the youth of the Valley.
The first course has commenced today while as the second course will start in the first week of March.
The 15 days training camp is organized with the aim to promote winter sports activities among the youth and provide a platform to the youth of Kashmir to explore their hidden skills.
In the instant skiing training camp, 40 youths from allover the Valley in two batches of 20 each would be imparted basic training in skiing in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering Gulmarg (IISM).
Speaking on the occasion, DIG said that J&K Police is organizing the event every year under Civic Action Programme with the aim to provide a platform to the youth of Valley to sharpen their skills.
Speaking on the occasion Principal IISM Col J S Dhillon informed the participants that IISM is possessing best equipments, best instructors and very good facilities. He said that the IISM has excelled as the best skiing institute in the valley.
The inaugural function was presided over by DIG NKR Baramulla, JP Singh and was attended by Principal IISM Col J S Dillon, SP Baramulla, Zubair Ahmad Khan, SSP Kupwara Abdul Jabbar, SP Sopore Abdul Qayoom, SP Bandipora Mohammad Shafi Mir, Addl SP Baramulla Mohammad Yousuf and officers from Tourism Department, GDA, IISM, Hoteliers, members of civil society and sports lovers.
