Ashwani stages walk-out over border firing victims

Jammu, Feb 20: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) MLA from Bishnah Ashwani Sharma today raised the failure of the State Government to provide compensation to the victims of mine blasts and firing along Indo-Pak border, and later staged a walkout from the House.
After Question Hour in the Assembly, Mr Sharma drew the attention of the Speaker towards the issue and the State Government’s failure to grant compensation to them.
He said that due to mine blasts and firing along the border areas, scores of people have been injured and many have become handicapped, but the Government has failed to grant compensation to them and address their problems despite assurances given at various forums.
Mr Sharma sought reply from the Government over the issue and later staged a walkout from the House shouting slogans seeking justice for the victims of border firing and mine blasts.
Meanwhile, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mir Saifullah informed the House that the Government would look into the issues of the people who had suffered losses due to shelling at different areas along the border and after assessing the ground situation appropriate decision on compensation would be taken soon.
