KATHUA, Feb 20: All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) today staged a massive protest demonstration at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park here today to stress upon the Government to expedite regularization of all daily wage, need based and hand receipt workers.
Hundreds of daily wage workers of various departments from all over the district assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and started raising slogans in support of their demands. They were demanding the Government to regularize all the daily wagers, need based workers and hand receipt workers, who have completed their seven years of service by amending SRO 64 of 1994 and ensure payment of their wages regularly.
While addressing the protesting workers, district president, LPEF, Kabla Singh alleged that on one hand due to the anti-people and anti-working class policies of the Central and State Governments, the prices of essential commodities have increased manifold and on the other hand the State Government is, adding salt to the injuries of daily wage workers by not paying their wages for months together.
Later, the protesting workers submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, to impress upon the Government for speedy redressal of their issues.
