SRINAGAR, Feb 20: Dozens of Anganwadi workers and helpers today protested against the recent Cabinet decision of opening new Anganwadi centers in the State.
These workers were demanding that Government should first meet their genuine demands like enhancement of salary, status of the employees, promotion of senior Anganwadi workers to supervisors and grant of SRO 144 in case of death of employee.
The agitating workers said the Government has neglected them in the 2014-15 budget passed recently by State Government and their genuine demands were not raised in the Assembly.
The workers were protesting under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association, affiliated with All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC).
