JAMMU, Mar 16: On the eve of its 39th Raising Day of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Zonal Unit Jammu of the Bureau organized an antidrug campaign in Government Degree College (GDC) Kunjwani to spread awareness against the ill-effects of drugs menace among the college students.
The programme entrusted upon the problem of drug abuse and its consequences worldwide. Apart from this, the programme also aimed to strengthen the action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a sustainable world free of drug abuse. The programme was graced by Deepak Hilori (NCB Zonal Director J&K), Harish Kumar (Assistant Director) and Dr Manisha Sarup Kohli (Principal of the College).
Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Hilori and other officers of the NCB Zonal Unit Jammu delivered lectures and presentation to the students, college faculty and parents on menace of the drug and role of youth in the society to spread awareness on ill effects of drugs. “The fight against drug will only be successful if it is taken to each and every household in India including the College faculty and students being the inspiration of the local masses in the society,” he added. He also interacted with students, and motivated them to be the ambassadors to fight against drugs menace.
Harish Kumar informed the students about the various cells constituted by the Government for rehabilitation of youth while Dr Manisha Sarup Kohli, in her address, emphasized on the need of such type of awareness programmes in future and also to spread the message of drug abuse in the society. She advised the students to spread the message of ‘Say No to Drugs’ in their families and friend circle too so that we can achieve aim of the drug free society.
Later, the students and staff of the College administered pledge ‘Say No to Drugs’. Moreover, students registered themselves on MyGov Portal. The programme was coordinated by Prof Blajinder and Dr Neeru Sharma.
