National Aerobic Gymnastics C’ship begins today

JAMMU, Mar 21: National Aerobic Gymnastics Championships for all age groups will be held at MA Stadium Jammu from March 22 to 24, organized by Gymnastics Association of J&K under the aegis of Gymnastics Federation of India and in collaboration with J&K Sports Council.
“We are conducting this prestigious event in Jammu for three days in which many nationals, international and medal winners are participating,” Kiran Wattal, vice president of the Gymnastics Association of India, stated during a press conference in Jammu.
“Around 450 players, coaches & managers from all States and UT’s of the country including around 50 technical officials, 40 representatives from Gymnastics Associations from the whole country shall also be taking part in this prestigious championship,” he added.
He said that this would be the first time in the previous 74 years that the Gymnastics Association of J&K has organized a second national event in a span of two years. Additionally, young gymnasts between the ages of 10 and 12 would be the maximum number of participants from different States and UTs in the Aerobic National Championship, which would feature 21 events divided into four age categories. These athletes would have the opportunity to represent their country at the national level in Asian Championships, World Championships, and Olympic events.
Wattal said, “Since past few years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed tremendous change in the sports arena under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and with the support of Secretary J&K Sports Council. I urge parents to avail the benefits as it is the best time for youngsters to make their career in sports.”
He said recently, Muskan Rana, Manya and Vaibhavi Sharma have also made us proud by winning medals in Khelo India Games and in National Games at Goa and at present our Rhythmic Gymnastics team is emerging as number two in the Country.
