1,054 families of Jammu region given relief

 

JAMMU: As many as 1,054 families of Jammu region are being provided relief after their migration following the erruption of militancy in the State during 1990, the Government today said.

Replying to calling attention notice of Congress member Naresh Kumar Gupta in the Assembly, Minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmad Khan said that 1,054 families from Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi are being provided relief.

These families had migrated to Jammu following the eruption of militancy in the State during 1990 and have settled in Talwara, Udhampur and Jammu, he said.

The relief includes a cash assistance of Rs 400 per person per month, 10 litre of kerosene oil, 11 kg rice and atta per month per family, Rs 300 per cattle for purchase of fodder is being provided to the affected families.

He said for the resettlement of these families at their native places following improvement in the security situation, a financial package to the tune of Rs 91.56 crore, was proposed for sanction and forwarded to the Union Government. (AGENCIES)
