JAMMU, Mar 28: Police in Jammu District have issued maiden proclamation notice against a Public Safety Act (PSA) absconder who has been evading his arrest since long.
History sheeter Mukesh Kumar alias Gesha of Akhnoor has been evading his arrest since long in a warrant issued by DM Jammu, a police spokesperson said.
“The competent authority DM Jammu after perusal of all records has issued proclamation notice to the absconder, directing him to surrender before the competent authority within a period of 30 days, failing which action warranted under laws shall be taken against him,” he said.
According to the police spokesperson, the notice was served to the family members of Mukesh Kumar and was also pasted across Akhnoor by the joint teams of Police and revenue headed by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma, SHO Akhnoor, Tariq Ahmed and Tehsildar Akhnoor, Naresh Kumar, under the supervision of SP Rural Brijesh Sharma and SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar.
“The decision to issue proclamation notice against the PSA absconders has been taken by Jammu Police in order to ensure their surrender and to set a deterrent for other criminal elements,” he said.
