Manipur dominates in Khelo India Women’s Wushu League

JAMMU, Mar 30: On the 5th Day of Khelo India Women’s Wushu League (Sub-Junior and Junior National) Championship at Bhagwati Nagar, here today, Manipur dominated in Taolu events whereas in Sanda, Haryana, Chandigarh, J&K, UP and Rajasthan are in the fray of the top slot in the league.
During today’s presentation ceremony Chief Guest of the event was SSP Sandeep Wazir who distributed cash prizes among the winners.
He lauded the Wushu Association of J&K for organising this mega event in J&K-UT and appreciated SAI, MYAS and Wushu Association of India for the allotment of this mega event to Wushu Association of J&K.
He also lauded J&K Sports Council for raising infrastructure across the UT and promoting sports in every nook and corner. He said promoting Women athletes in all sports is a great initiative of the Sports Authority of India and with all these efforts India will be the power hub of sports in coming years.
He presented medals and cash prizes among the winners during the felicitation function. Suhel Ahmed, Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) Sarika, Sajad Hyder, Bhavneet (General Secretary Wushu Association of J&K) were present on the occasion. The closing ceremony of the Khelo India Sub-Junior National Wushu league will be held at Indoor Hall Bhagwati Nagar Jammu on March 31 and Rajesh Sharma Chairman, SSB will be the Chief Guest.
Pertinently, Rs 22 Lakh cash will be distributed among the best 8 winners of the Sub-Junior and Junior National League Wushu Championship comprising Rs 20,000, 15000, 10,000, 10,000, 5000, 5000, 5000, & 5000. Meanwhile, in today’s results Jammu and Kashmir’s Sadia Tariq (52kg) won the Bronze medal in Taolu.
