Udhampur girls, Jammu boys clinch 35th JK-UT Jr Volleyball C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 31: 35th J&K UT Junior Volleyball Championship for boys and girls concluded here today in which Udhampur district girls team created history by clinching the championship in girls section by defeating Samba district girls team by 3-1 sets (25-12,28-26,22-25,25-23) whereas Jammu boys retained their title by defeating Samba district by 3-0 sets (25-12,25-18,25-15).
Rahul Yadav Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was the Chief Guest on the occasion who distributed trophies, prizes to winners and runner up teams as well as to technical officials and office bearers of various district Volleyball Associations of J&K.
Saroj Sethi Senior Manager Chenab Valley Power Project Ltd was guest of honour whereas Rajeev Sharma Member J&K Sports Council presided over the function. In the 3-day Championship over 400 players and officials participated in the championship by conducting as many as 60 matches working round the clock in floodlit courts. The cash prizes to the tune of Rs 40,000 were announced to outstanding players to best 4 adjudged teams of the championship by the dignitaries.
Vijay Kumar Magotra General Secretary VAJK gave a brief 3-day championship organized in collaboration with J&K Sports Council wherein total 30 teams, 19 teams in boys and 11 in girls section from all across the JK-UT participated.
The chief guest and other dignitaries were honored with mementos by office bearers of VAJK Kuldip Magotra CEO, H.S Gill Executive Vice President, R C Sharma Treasurer and Mohd Tariq, Joint Secretary.
Among the dignitaries Balvinder Singh Divisional Sports Officer, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh Assistant Director (SAI), Ashok Padha president Udhampur district Volleyball Association, Abdul Ahad Shah President Anantnag Volleyball Association, Nilofer Habib Secretary Kulgam District Volleyball Association, Balbinder Singh Secretary Samba district Volleyball, Akbar Ali Office Secretary, Suresh Chib, Subash Shastri, Veena Kumari, Manpreet Kour members of Volleyball Association of J&K, Rajeev Dogra (Rtd.) SAI Volleyball coach, Prateek Kumar SAI Volleyball coach and Naresh Kumar Volleyball coach were present on the occasion.
