SRINAGAR, Apr 1: The Srinagar District boxing team has showcased exceptional talent at the JKUT Boxing Championship by bagging 9 medals, including 3 gold.
The championship was held at the Indoor Sports Complex, M A Stadium in Jammu from March 29-31.
The championship saw participation from teams representing various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Jammu, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, Reasi, Doda, Udhampur, Ramban, Ganderbal, Bandipura, and Baramulla.
Representing Srinagar District, a contingent of 12 members competed across different categories, including Sub Junior, Junior, Youth, and Elite Men, in various weight divisions.
The Srinagar team displayed outstanding skills and determination, securing a remarkable tally of medals.
The team’s performance was highlighted by their achievement of three gold, five silver, and one bronze medals.
Those who bagged medals include Maniya Shafi – Gold (Sub Junior Girls, 48-50kg), Bareena – Gold (Junior Girls, 64-67kg), Aaisha Jamsheed – Silver (Elite Women, 45-48kg), Kartik – Silver (Sub Junior Boys, 37-40kg), Piyush – Silver (Sub Junior Boys, 49-52kg), Mohd Suhaib – Silver (Sub Junior Boys, 52-54kg), Hadi Hassan Bhat – Bronze (Sub Junior Boys, 57-60kg), Azan Ahmad – Silver (Elite Men, 54-57kg), and Peer Mohd Bin – Gold (Elite Men, 63.5-67kg).
The Srinagar team’s impressive performance was a result of their hard work and dedication, coupled with the guidance provided by their coach, Farooq Ahmad Khan, who accompanied the team throughout the championship.
The officials said that the team’s performance at the JKUT Boxing Championship shows where they stand. “It also showcases the talent and potential present in the region.”
