JAMMU, Feb 25: The Jammu District Boxing Championship got underway at Boxing Rink at MA Stadium, here today.
The Championship was declared open by Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, J B S Bali in presence of Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Dr Nirmolak Singh, Narinder Singh, Rajan Sharma, Vinod Bakshi and Tarun Sharma.
50 boxers drawn from across the district are participating in the Championship.
12 bouts were held today and the finals will be held tomorrow at the same venue.
Earlier, Anshuman Khajuria and Ankush Sharma clinched gold in 46 to 49 kg senior category, while Chander Dev Singh and Sunny Kumar claimed gold in 52-56 kg category.
Vikram Deep bagged gold in 64-69 kg, while the gold medals in 70-75 kg went to Sunil Kumar and Ricky Kumar.
Jagdeep Singh won gold in 51-54 kg sub-junior category, while Pankaj and Saksham Bhatia bagged gold 60-63 kg category.
The gold medal in 30-32 kg sub-junior category went to Manil Wadhera, while Deepak Chowdhary clinched gold in 64-69 sub-junior category.
