SAMBA, Mar 1: The irate ladies of Mandi Sangwali Samba held a protest demonstration at PHE Office, Samba today in protest against the water scarcity in the area.
The protestors also tuned violent and ransacked the office and damaged furniture and window panes as no official from the department was present in the office.
Mrs Anju, Panch of Sangwali Mandi told media persons that PHE Department has miserably failed to supply water to the area. She said that number of deputations from the area met the authorities of PHE Department during last two months but no one bothered to listen to them and the officers of the department failed to solve the problem till date. They only gave false promises and assurances to the people, she added.
Mrs Anju said that when PHE Department is not able to supply the water even in Winter season how can it maintain the supply in Summer when the demand of water supply increases constantly.
She said the people will intensify the agitation and not hesitate in blocking the National Highway in case the water supply was not restored to the area within two days and the department will be responsible for all the consequences.
Others who addressed the protestors included Kiran Devi, Sushma Sambyal, Kamla Devi, Geeta Devi, Sureskha Devi, Laxmi Devi, Kamla Devi, Kamlesh Sambyal, Sarishta Sambyal and Madhu Sambyal.
