JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Apr 20: The Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters in Batamaloo (Srinagar) and Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) witnessed a flurry of artistic expressions today as the curtain fell on Fire Service Week 2024, culminating in a spirited drawing competition.
Spearheaded by Director of Fire and Emergency Services, Alok Kumar, in collaboration with the School Education Department, the event showcased creativity and the commitment of children to fire safety.
In Srinagar, enthusiastic school children from diverse regions showcased their artistic talents, intertwining vital messages on fire safety into their captivating artwork. The competition, officials said, provided a platform to not only nurture artistic skills but also instilled crucial fire safety awareness among the youth.
Also, an award ceremony followed the competition, where standout performers were lauded with cash prizes and certificates for their exceptional contributions to advocating fire safety. Among the attendees were Assistant Director Srinagar, Aqib Hussain Mir, Medical Officer, Abrar Bashir, Foreman RWS Rattan Lal, and other officers.
In Jammu, the function was presided over by Director (ADGP), Fire & Emergency Services J&K, Alok Kumar. On the occasion, an Essay and drawing competitions were held in which 29 students from eight different schools of Jammu participated.
Samradhi, a 6th class student of Mahavir Jain School (Rani Park, Jammu) secured 1st position, 2nd prize was bagged by Vanshika Thakur (7th class student of Oriental Higher Secondary School, Kachi Chawni) while as 3rd position was secured by Suhani (9th class student of Bal Bharti Public High School, Channi Himmat).
The Director distributed cash and awards among the winners and participants. He also awarded trophies and certificates to winning as well as runner up teams of Volleyball, Tug of War, Ladder drill and Fire Tender drill. A cultural program was also held at F&E headquarters Gandhi Nagar, here.
