JAMMU, Mar 3: Income Tax Department got better of Doordarshan Kendra and Radio Kashmir Jammu team by 28 runs in the inaugural match of the T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC), Jammu at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, the match was inaugurated by AK Thatai, Income Tax Commissioner, Jammu in presence of Vishu Maini, Anjali Sharma, Manish Kumar, Pushpa Jarangal, Sailesh Raina and Ravi Mansotra. Winning the toss and batting first, Income Tax Department scored a modest total of 115 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Naresh Kumar was the top scorer with 35 runs, while Akhlesh Mishra and Deepak Kumar contributed 14 and 11 runs to the total respectively.
In reply, Doordarshan Kendra & Radio Station Jammu team managed to score 87 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match 28 runs. Rajesh Kumar 27 and Atul 10 were the main contributors.
The Tournament is a part of various sports events, organized by the (CGEWCC) as an annual feature. The events are being held under the overall supervision of Joint Commissioner, Income Tax, Jammu, Rakesh Kumar, Sports Secretary of the event.
The objective of the Tournament is to bridge gap between the employees of various Central Government Departments. The games include, cricket, badminton, tabler tennis, volleyball, chess and carrom.
