RAJOURI, Apr 26: In order to curb menace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor, particularly during elections, sleuths of Excise Department conducted raids in various areas falling in Sub Division Nowshera and Kalakote, and seized 15 litres of ‘desi’ liquor as well as 580 kg of Lahan.
The raids were conducted by an Excise team led by Inspector Mohd Arif under the supervision of ETO Rajouri-Poonch Narinder Singh Anthal and on the direction of Excise Commissioner J&K Pankaj Kumar and Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive Kusum Sharma.
During search at Argi, Dalhori, Kanthol, Badhal, Dabbar, Potha and Lower Nonial areas, 15 litres of illicit liquor distilled, 580 kg of Lahan (raw material used for illicit liquor distillation) and 6 working still apparatus were recovered.
Further investigation in this regard was being conducted to break the supply chain of illicit liquor in Rajouri area.
