Police organizes symposium on communal harmony

MENDHAR, Mar 5: With an aim to promote communal harmony in the Pir Panchal region, Police here today organized a symposium under the Civic Action Programme at Government Degree College Auditorium, here.
The seminar, titled “Role of Youth Imperative for Communal Harmony and National Integration”, was attended by students from various Colleges and other educational institutions of Mendhar Tehsil.
Aziz Ahmed and Sobia Koser of Government Degree College Poonch bagged the first and second prize respectively, while Khasboo Khan of GHHS Mendhar bagged the third prize.
SDM Mendhar Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion, while Principal GDC Mendhar, Prof Shabir Hussain Shah was the guest of honour.
The  programme was conducted by Prof Mohd Akram.
SSP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain, while speaking on the occasion said that youth are the real ambassadors of peace, communal harmony and national integration.
He exhorted upon the youth to contribute positively in the society so as to eradicate social evils, crimes, hatred / untouchability and communalism from the society.
He impressed upon the youth particularly students to excel in all spheres of life and defeat the ill designs of anti national and anti social elements.
SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary was also present on the occasion.
