JAMMU, Mar 6: MIER College of Education organized a function to award certificates for the UGC sponsored Course on Human Rights and Values at its BC Road campus, here.
The chief guest of the function was Ajay Sadhotra, Minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, J&K.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions, Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER and Dr P L Koul, Course coordinator.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp of human rights and values.
Dr Arun Gupta in his welcome address said that the course is all the more relevant in the modern context in which violations against the weaker sections of the society are escalating day by day.
Mr Sadhotra in his address said that awareness of human rights is the need of the hour. Every human being is entitled to some basic rights and they have to be ensured by every Government.
Dr P L Koul, Course coordinator formally gave a brief introduction of the course.
Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated a poster exhibition on human rights.
A group song on the theme of Human Rights and Values was presented by the students of the college which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Later-on, the students who had completed the course successfully were awarded certificates by the chief guest.
Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER presented a memento to the chief guest as a token of gratitude.
The programme was conducted by Monika Rathore, who also presented vote of thanks.
