JAMMU, May 4: Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K, accompanied by Tanveer Ahmad, ARO Migrants, Udhampur, reviewed polling arrangements for the Kashmiri migrants in the Special Polling Station set up for them in Udhampur and gave on-spot directions for further facilitation of the voters.
Pertinent to mention that the three Parliamentary constituencies of Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri , are going to polls on May 13, May 20 and May 25, 2024 respectively.
Special Polling Stations have been set up for the migrants in Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi, besides, they have the option to cast their vote through the postal ballot for which Form 12-C is to be filled beforehand.
In furtherance to the Election Commission of India’s notification dated 11th April , 2024, special polling stations at Jammu and Udhampur have been mapped with the concerned zones, and the requirement of filling M-Form has been done away with.
Further, a migrant residing in Delhi NCR can opt to vote in a Special Polling Station, for which one has to fill M-Form or opt for a Postal Ballot.
The process of filling M-Form has also been simplified.
Earlier, Dr Karwani, accompanied by the concerned AROs, inspected the polling stations set up at four different locations in Delhi and 21 locations in Jammu, and took stock of the facilities available for voters.
Dr Karwani also interacted with the migrants and listened to their grievances.
He assured time bound disposal of all their genuine demands and appealed to all the voters, especially first time voters to come out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right to vote.
