SAMBA, May 4: Samba police has booked two notorious criminals under Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) and in its drive against narcotics smugglers/suppliers. Besides, to curb criminal activities, police has also arrested two drug smugglers (kingpins) in two separate NDPS cases registered at Police Station Samba. The arrests were made under the overall supervision of police said the two detained hardcore criminals under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) have been lodged in jail. They were identified as Radhey Sham alias Shamu, son of Som Dutt of Shahzadpur tehsil Ramgarh, district Samba and Shiv Dayal alias Sunny son of Rajinder Kumar of Chohala Kothey, tehsil R.S Pura, district Jammu at present, Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana district Samba, police added.
Police said they were involved in multiple criminal cases, posing a serious threat to public peace and tranquillity.
Police said following their repeated engagement in criminal activities, detention orders were issued by the District Magistrate Samba based on detailed dossiers prepared by SSP Samba. The police teams, led by SHO PS Ramgarh and SHO PS Bari Brahmana, executed these warrants, leading to the incarceration of the accused in district Jail Kathua.
Police said the two arrested narcotic smugglers have been identified as Kuljeet Singh, son of Amrik Singh of Jahangirpuri, Delhi and Sagar son of Prem Kumar of Amritsar Punjab.
During the course of investigation of FIR No. 103/2024 U/S 8/15/25 NDPS Act of PS Samba, police teams led by SHO PS Samba succeeded in exposing the forward link in the case and arrested accused Kuljeet Singh whereas accused Sagar has been arrested as backward link during the investigation of case FIR No. 115/2024 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act of PS Samba.
Police said the case FIR No. 103/2024 & FIR No. 115/2024 were already registered on 17.04.2024 and 25.04.2024 respectively at Police Station (PS) Samba and consequently two accused including a female were arrested in two separate FIRs.
Police said it has conducted the investigation in professional manner coupled with arduous efforts, has worked out forward and backward links in these cases. More arrests in this regard cannot be ruled out, police added.
