JMC seizes 10 kgs of polythene bags, recovers Rs 5000 as fine

JAMMU, Mar 8: The Municipal Veterinary Officer along with field staff on the directions of JMC  Commissioner Kiran Wattal conducted a special drive which from Gangyal, Kunjwani, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar Ram Pura  & Satwari etc.
While checking, 10 kg of polythene bags were sized on spot and a fine was imposed to defaulters. During the drive an amount of Rs. 5000 as fine has been recovered from the defaulters and general public also made aware about harmful effect of using Polythene carry bags, because polythene never decompose like other waste material. And due to un-decomposition it will effect on our surrounding environment.
JMC also appealed the shopkeepers to obtain license from the Municipal Corporation Jammu for running their commercial establishments, and also to keep their premises neat and clean in hygienic condition.
