UDHAMPUR, Mar 8: The police seized 186 bags of FCI rice while being unloaded at a shop in Chenani area and arrested two persons in this connection.
A Police spokesman said that acting on a tip off regarding smuggling of Government ration, a police party from Chenani noticed a truck No. JK02AQ/9217 unloading rice bags at a shop at Narsoo nallah on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Driver Shabir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman of Kangan in Kashmir, was standing nearby. He could not reply properly when the police party inquired.
The police party asked for Challan from him and it was established that consignment of FCI food (Govt ration supply) was destined for Srinagar store. The police seized the truck along with bags and arrested driver and shopkeeper Mohd Shafi, son of Mohd Musa of Chanderkote at present Narsoo. All the 186 bags were sized and a case was registered against them.
