YV Sharma heads J&K Joint Chamber

JAMMU, Mar 8: Y V Sharma, president Jammu Chamber of  Commerce and Industry has been elected as president of  Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of  Commerce and Industry (JKJCCI).
The announcement in this effect was today made by Zafar Choudhary, who is mandated by the Kuala Lumpur  Consensus as Election Commissioner for the Joint Chamber.  As conceived in 2008 and formally institutionalized by Istanbul agreement of 2011, the JKJCCI is the first ever business body of Cross-LoC collaboration which is based on the membership from regional chambers, federations and unions from both sides of  the Line of Control.
Mr Sharma is the third president of this body. He succeeded Dr Mubeen Shah from Kashmir Chamber, who was elected in 2012.  Zulfikar Abbasi of AJK Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Pakistan administered Kashmir) was the founder president of JKJCCI.
A meeting of joint chamber held in Malaysia in January this year,  had decided on transfer of chair of Joint Chamber to Jammu region. Conciliation  Resources, a London based  peace building organization has been assisting the regional chambers and other stake holders in their desire for shaping up joint chamber to give further fillip to the Jammu and Kashmir specific cross LOC confidence building measures, agreed by India and Pakistan.
