JAMMU, May 8: The three-day annual veterinary festival, “Vet Fest-2K24,” hosted by the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at SKUAST-Jammu, R S Pura, commenced today.
Dr Nagendra Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, inaugurated the event alongside Prof B N Tripathi, the Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu, Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean, FVSc& AH; Dr S K Gupta, Registrar, SKUAST-Jammu and other statutory officers of the University.
Dr Nagendra Sharma, in his address, emphasized the pivotal role that events like Vet Fest-2K24 play in not only rejuvenating the minds and spirits of students and faculty but also in fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging within the academic community.
Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-J, Dr B N Tripathi emphasized that such festivals provide a platform for students to step out of their comfort zones, explore new interests, and unveil different facets of their personalities, contributing to their holistic development and growth.
Prof. Rajesh Katoch, Patron of the Organizing Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, outlined the diverse array of events comprising Vet Fest 2K24. These include Literary events (Debate, Story Writing, Mad – Ad, Ship Wreck, Quiz and Youth Parliament), cultural events (Dance, Music ,Theatre) , Photography, Flower Decoration, besides various Sports Events (indoor and outdoor games viz. Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, Carom, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Tug of War, 50 & 100 meter Races).
The event witnessed the presence of Dr Rajinder Peshin, Director Education; Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension; Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences; Dr J S Soodan, Dean, Faculty of Dairy Technology; Dr Sanjay Khar, Director (Planning & Monitoring); Dr M S Bhadwal, Controller of Examination; Dr Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension; HoDs and Veterinary faculty staff members. Non-teaching staffs also attended the function with full zeal and enthusiasm.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Veterinary students from the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (FV Sc& AH) will be actively engaged in a diverse array of competitions spanning sports, cultural showcases, literary endeavors, and fine arts exhibitions from the 8th to the 10th of May, 2024, as integral participants of the Fest.
