Anganwari workers demand release of pending salary

JAMMU, Mar 9: Anganwari Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) has demanded release of pending salary due for the year 2013 till date.
Addressing a press conference, the association president, Swarna Choudhary, senior leader S Lakshman Ravinder Singh of BMS, Neelam Sharma, general secretary and Ashok Choudhary, Prabari Anganwari Workers Welfare Association and secretary BMS demanded 100% promotion for Anganwari workers as supervisors from amongst eligible Anganwari workers under promotion policy as per seniority list as at present politicians/officials are making amendment, alteration in the rules with vested interest and violating the rules and regulations of Central scheme.
They said that the salary must be paid month wise as is being paid in other States in the country as 90% funds comes from Central Government well in advance. The association further opposed the extended six hour duty under alleged mission scheme and warned that if the Government wants six hour duty then they have to increase the salary. They demanded to declare employee as AWW who are working for last more than 35 years continuously and it is a form of exploitation and harassment to women workers.
The association said that “the Director Social Welfare Department has passed a wrong order with vested interest violating the seniority list and this needs vigilance investigation for wrong orders. In their another demand they said that if Anganwari workers are deputed on election duty on different election booth in different constituencies, all of them should be paid TA, DA and other all payment as per Government at par with Government employees.
They said that Anganwari workers be covered under EPF and ESI scheme, Pension Scheme, Gratuity Act and Minimum Wages Act and other benefits may also be given.
