The idea of raising the retirement age of Govt. employees in J&K is against the Public interest. There are not many jobs and the youth can get employment only after the elders retire and vacancies are created. So, by delaying the retirement age,we reduce the chances of the youngsters to find jobs on time. This delays their settlement in life. The unemployed and unsettled youths tend to indulge in anti-social activities. Therefore, the Central and State Govts. should not consider the demand for increasing the retirement age.
I don’t agree with the suggestions for raising the retirement age from 58 to 60 years of the J&K Govt employees. Instead, it should be reduced from 58 to 55 years if the State Government is keen on solving the most pressing problem of unemployment among youth.
