Rajouri Distt Court lacks advocate chambers; lawyers stage protest

RAJOURI, Mar 11: Irked over the casual approach of authorities regarding construction of advocate chambers on the district court Rajouri, advocates under the banner of Bar Association staged a massive protest, here today.
Under the leadership of Adv Vibodh Gupta, secretary Bar Association Rajouri these advocates started the demonstration from District Court complex Rajouri and then marched towards DC Office complex where they also called on Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar Sharma who came on the spot along with XEn PWD and CPO Rajouri.
Later a team of district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar Sharma and accompanied by XEn PWD, Abdul Majid Wani and Chief Planning Officer visited the spot and assured the advocates that the issue will be sorted out soon.
Speaking during the protest Adv Vibodh Gupta, Adv Ehsan Mirza and others said that only 4 to 5 chambers for the lawyers exist in the present court complex but the number of strength of advocates in the court at present is about 70 due to which these advocates are left with no other option than to sit in open and they face severe hardships at the time of rainfall. They also said that existing two chambers of lawyers got washed away last night due to heavy rainfall which has further posed burden over them.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Adv Haq Nawaz Mirza, Adv Khilat Bhat, Adv Inderjeet Sharma, Adv Ajaz Zaki etc.
