JAMMU, May 21: The Inter-Departmental Tournaments for the session 2023-24 commenced today at Directorate of Sports of Physical Education organized by Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu (JU).
Prof Yashpal Sharma, Rector of Udhampur Campus at the University of Jammu, was the chief guest for the opening matches. He was introduced to players of both teams before the start of the games.
In Volleyball matches, Economics Department beat Udhampur Campus by 2-0 with set score (25-7 and 25-13), SHTM Department thrashed Geology Department by 2-0 with set score (25-13 and 25-18), Sociology Department defeated Physics Department by 2-0 with set score (25-13 and 25-18), Sociology Department beat Urdu Department by 2-1 with set score (15-07, 2-15 and 15-18) and Physical Education Department defeated Commerce Department by 2-0 with set score (25-11 and 25-03).
In Cricket matches, Physical Education Department thrashed ICCR & HRM by 10 wickets whereas Chemistry Department beat English Department by 21 runs.
The tournaments were organized under the supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba (Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, JU).
The matches were officiated by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Vikas Karlopia, Ashok Singh, Vijay Kumar, Manu Singh Pawar, Geetanjali, Vijay Raina, Ishima and Yogesh Dutt.
