Pazhany in boys, Alankrita in girls win U-17 Chess C’ship

JAMMU, June 12: Great display of tactics and strategies by 10 years old Pazhany Kohli who scored 6 out of 6 points to win J&K UT U-17 Boys Chess championship in a very strong field of 43 players.
While in the girl’s category, young 9 years-old Alankrita Sharma won the title in U-17 girl’s category in a strong field of 6 players by displaying good composure and playing flawlessly. She scored 2.5 points out of 3.
In Boys section Sahib Singh got 2nd place while Aryan Raj Bali got 3rd place. In Girls section Srujanika Gupta got 2nd place while Ashwiina Raina got 3rd place. Top 2 will represent J&K-UT in the upcoming National U-17.
SP Sharma, Chairman Jammu Division Selection Committee alongwith Bindu Pathania chief Arbiter distributed the prizes among the winners. The event was organised by Jammu District Chess Association under the aegis of All J&K Chess Association under the banner of J&K Sports Council. Baldev Raj president AJKCA supervised all the matches while events were planned by Atul Kumar Gupta working president AJKCA and former 3 times joint secretary AICF . Ravi Kumar and Ritish Pathania gave technical support.
