JAMMU, June 16: It will be locals versus outside teams when they meet each other in the knockout stages of semi-finals tomorrow in the ongoing Open Handball Night Tournament, organised by Arun Sharma Sports and Social Welfare Trust on University of Jammu (JU) Campus.
Earlier, at the end of a closely contested league round between six participating teams, Kargil Martyrs Club Udhampur, Diamond Club Hyderabad, Arun Sharma Handball Academy (ASHA) and Gymkhana Club Ludhiana qualified for the semifinals.
Now, in the semi-finals, Kargil Martyrs Club has been pitted against Gymkhana Ludhiana while ASHA shall take on Diamond Club Hyderabad.
However, four matches were played on Sunday and their results were Gymkhana Ludhiana beat Chandigarh XI by 30-27; Diamond Club Hyderabad beat J&K Sports Club by 22-18; Kargil Martyrs Club beat Diamond Club Hyderabad by 23-22; ASHA beat Gymkhana Ludhiana by 28-26.
General Secretary of J&K Olympic Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma and former India Handball captain, Ranjit Singh (SSP) were special guests on the occasion.
