JAMMU, Mar 24: Children Art Exhibition titled “Little Hands” was jointly organized by the Division of Social Pediatrics at Advanced Pediatrics Center, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu and Build Healthy India Movement, Chandigarh at Punjab Kala Kendra, Rose Garden, Chandigarh.
Raj Bharti, Founder and President, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
The exhibition featured art works of innumerable children from various schools of the city. The exhibition show-cases the children from Snehalaya, Juvenile Homes, Children in Hospitals, homes, schools etc. portraying various tips for the grown-ups to encourage creativity among children. It also suggested some steps for the parents and teachers to encourage creativity among children.
In addition some aspects of the art related to the development and research were incorporated with the works executed by the children, which will be useful for them in understanding the applied aspects of art.
At the start of exhibition the art work and paintings by Raj Bharti were displayed through power-point presentation to the audience present on this occasion.
In her speech, Raj Bharti deeply appreciated the initiative and declared Rs 10,000 award for Vandana Thakur, an art teacher who was instrumental in facilitating the child artists to display their talent in this exhibition.
Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Associate Prof, Division of Social Pediatrics at Advanced Pediatrics, PGI, Chandigarh said that when the children begin schooling, their level of creativity is evident and often flourishing, but as they grow older, they lose their interest in the activity.
She added that declining creativity is one of the major challenges our children face today. Creativity is more than just coming up with an idea, and requires hard work, persistence, and endurance to produce a final product.
