BHADARWAH, June 26: A five-day long National Level AICF Smart Girl FIDE Rating Championship concluded here today.
In addition to encouraging mental sports, especially among girls, 56 girls from 11 States competed in the five-day inaugural tournament held in the Chenab Region.
International Chess player and Bal Puraskar Awardee, Aarushi Kotwal who is a native of Bhadarwah was the mentor of the tournament.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, who presided over the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest, stated that this competition marks a significant turning point in drawing players from around the world and will serve as a catalyst to encourage girls to participate in sports. He added that Arushi can play a key role in the district administration’s efforts to establish Bhadarwah as a chess hub.
