Ganderbal Gladiators thrash Budgam Badshahs by 6 wkts

SRINAGAR, June 30: Ganderbal Gladiators drubbed Budgam Badshahs easily by 6 wickets to advance in the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) Phase-II, being organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and J&K State Sports Council, here.
Chasing a modest total of 102 runs set by the Budgam Badshas, Ganderbal Gladiators reached the required target in 15.4 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Fayaz Alam scored a magnificent half century, hitting 54 off just 45 balls, while Danish and Sayim Mustaffa contributed 19 and 17 runs to the total respectively. For Budgam Badshahs, Mohd Shahban scalped 2 wickets, while Showket Ahmed claimed one.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, Budgam Badshahs scored a meagre total of 102 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Showket (17) and Riyaz (14) were the main contributors. Owais Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Ganderbal Gladiators, who captured 3 wickets by conceding 11 runs in his 3 overs, while Obaid claimed 2/27 in his 4 overs. Ajay and Shabir also claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Manzoor Dar and Nazir Ahmed as umpires, while Zahoor Dar maintained scorebook and Imran Bashir acted as the match referee. Captain Kavi was the observer.
Meanwhile, in another KPL match at Sports Stadium Anantnag, Anantnag Angare outplayed Baramulla Tigers by 4 wickets. Batting first, Barumulla Tigers made 120 runs with Charan Gurdev Singh contributing highest 24 runs. For Anantnag Angare, Jaleel scalped 3 wickets, while Manzoor Nath claimed 2.
Anantnag Angare, in reply, chased the target in 15.1 overs by losing 6 wickets and won the match by 4 wickets. Hanan Gowhar (36) and Manzoor Mir (26) were the main scorers. Jahangir Lone claimed 3 wickets for Baramulla Tigers.
Javed Ahmed and Mubashir Bashir were the umpires, while Irfan Zahoor acted as the scorer. Nisar Ahmed was the match referee.
