GGM Science College organizes Conference in Mathematics

JAMMU, Mar 27: One-Day National Level Conference in Mathematics on the topic ‘Analysis and its Applications’ was organized by the Department of Mathematics in G G M Science College, here today.
Sheikh Mushtak Ahmad, Secretary to Government Higher Education Department was the chief guest on the occasion, while Director Colleges Higher Education Department, Prof T A Kawoosa presided over the function and Special Secretary, Higher Education, J&K Government, Anil Gupta was the guest of honour.
Prof (Dr) N K Resutra, Nodal Principal Jammu Division Colleges presented welcome address.
In his address, Sheikh Mushtak stressed upon the need for excellence in Higher Education.
While recalling the ancient history he said India had been a great seat of knowledge in the form of Nalanda and Takshshila Universities and stressed upon the youth to work hard to regain the lost glory.
He gave an overview of the various central shemes like SSA RMSA and RUSA for the betterment of society in general and student community in particular.
Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Prof  T A Kawoosa emphasized the need for organizing such events on regular basis.
In his welcome address, while giving a brief account of achievements of the college, Dr Resutra exhorted upon the importance of Mathematics and hoped that the budding Mathematicians will be greatly benefitted out of this conference.
Speaking on the occasion, organizing secretary of the conference, Dr Sunil Gupta highlighted the achievements of the Department of Mathematics. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Khalil Ahmad from Jamia Millia University, New Dehli; Prof V K Bhardwaj, Kurukshetra University; Prof J K Prajapat from Central University Rajasthan and Prof  P K Sharma DAV College Jallandhar.
Over 100 participants from J&K State and outside the State attended the Conference.
Vote of thanks was presented by Prof N K Dhar, while the proceedings of the Conference were co-ordinated by Dr Shally Gupta.
