JAMMU, Mar 28: 11th Bhai Gurbux Singh Memorial State Korfball Championship commenced at Playing Field No-1Gandhi Nagar, here today.
In the first match, Samba District beat Udhampur by (9-7), while half time score was 5-4 in favour of Samba District.
In the second match, Kathua District drubbed Rajouri District by (10-6). Half time score was 6-3 in favour of Kathua.
Earlier, the Championship was inaugurated by Tarlok Singh, working president of J&K Korfball Association.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Manjeet Singh, general secretary, J&K Korfball Association; Deshbandu, organizing secretary; R K Sharma, treasurer; V P Sharma, joint secretary J&K Korfball Association.
The matches were conducted by Tarandeep Singh (National Korfball Referee) and Ashwani Sharma State Referee.
12 teams of different Districts are participating in the Championship and the participating districts include Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Ragouri, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Budgam and Samba.
