*Sixteen UMA students win medals

JAMMU, July 7: The two day-long J&K UT Kalaripayattu Championship organized by Kalaripayattu Association of J&K concluded at Baby Caters Hall Rehari, here today.
The championship was organized under the leadership of Lalit Kumar Gupta, President Kalaripayattu Association of Jammu & Kashmir & Danish Sharma, General Secretary, Kalaripayattu Association of J&K.
More than 170 players from different districts of J&K participated in the Championship with great zeal and enthusiasm. Rajeev Sharma, Member J&K Sports Council was the chief guest while Dr Kunal Anand, Principal -Delhi Public School, Udhampur was the guest of honour on this occasion. Atul Hans – Principal Daily Rising School, Jammu was among the special guest.
Rajeev Sharma appreciated the Kalaripayattu Association for organizing a championship and providing a platform to the youth to channelize their energy towards sports.
Meanwhile, 16 students from the United Martialarts Academy (UMA) Jammu bagged medals in the championship. The academy is coached by Amit Singh, Vikas Dhar, Neeraj Singh Manhas and Surjeet Dogra. The medal winners were Mishty Sharma (Gold), Taakshra Mahajan (Gold), Priyanjali Jaral (Gold), Nishant (Gold), Kavish (Gold). Parminder Kaur (Silver), Sukhmani Kaur(Silver), Amit Kumar (Silver), Leesha Inder Deep Kaur (Silver), Anant Dhar (Silver) and Rohit Bhagat (Silver). The Bronze medalists were Mahir (Bronze), Abhijyot, Aryan Mathur (Bronze), Kamaldeep Singh (Bronze), Iqbal Singh Khalsa (Bronze) and Iqbal Singh Khalsa (Bronze) High kick.
