Youth Promotional Coaching Camp concludes, Prasad felicitates winners

JAMMU, Mar 28: Youth Promotional Coaching Camp organised by JKP for under19 years boys concluded here this afternoon. Director General of Police Ashok Prasad was the chief guest at the concluding function.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasad said that the camp was a part of Civic Action Programme wherein more than 400 boys from far-flung areas of the State participated.
DGP said that JKP is contributing overwhelmingly for the promotion of sports in the State. Various sports events are organised in all districts of the State, providing a competitive platform for the budding players to showcase their hidden talent, he added. He disclosed that the youth promotion camp was initially introduced some years before and the scope of the activity has now been expanded to cultivate sports talent among the youth belonged to far-flung areas.
Mr Prasad Highlighted the importance of sports in the physical and mental development of youth, saying that discipline and sportsmanship make the youth to utilise their energies for the betterment of the people, hone their talent in different capacities.
DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, besides its professional policing, has been organising many sports tournaments to nurture younger talent within and outside the organisation. Our efforts have been yielding good results and the sports person of JKP have proved their mettle at national and international levels, bringing laurels for the nation, the DGP added.
Mr Prasad lauded the efforts of the organisers, saying that it was a great task to choose the boys from the poor pockets of the State and make arrangements for their boarding and lodging in a befitting manner. Winner teams were felicitated with trophies by the DGP.
Earlier, the Additional Director General of Police, (Armed), J&K, S M Sahai, who was also the Organising Secretary of the Camp, said that more that 400 youth from far-flung areas of district Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Udhampur, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag, Pulwama and Baramulla participated in the week long coaching camp. Trained coaches of JKP imparted coaching to the participants in different games which include volleyball, football, basketball, handball and kabaddi.
Among others, the function was attended by Special DGP K Rajendra Kumar, ADGPs, SP Vaid, DR Doley and Dilbag Singh, IGPs, AK Choudhary, SJM Gillani, PR Manhas Muneer Ahmad Khan, T Punchok AS Bali and SL Sharma, DIsGP, KL Bhagat, and Vijay Singh Samyal, Retired police officers, AIsG (PHQ) Uttam Chand and Rajeshwar Singh, Commandants of Armed and IRP battalions and other police officers.
