Poonch, Rajouri deliberately neglected: PDP

Excelsior Correspondent
POONCH, Mar 28: Seeking support of the people to change the fundamentals of political and administrative system of the State, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat Yash Pal Sharma today said that PDP is contesting Parliament elections to give voice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing series of public meetings during his road show from Poonch town to Loran Mandi, Mr  Sharma said that issues of the people living in remotest areas like Poonch and Rajouri were never raised in the Parliament because elected representatives always adopt casual approach towards woes of the people.
He said that PDP had proved how a change could be brought about in the life of people and party leadership is competent enough to carry forward this agenda. He said that governance consciousness was generated in the people of the State only after experiencing the positive impact of the previous  PDP Government on their daily lives and they would hence forth not compromise on the quality of governance.
He said that people of the State, especially those from Poonch and Rajouri, had unfortunately been exploited previously on emotional slogans alone without keeping pace with the requirements of development and growth that had hit the remote and the backward areas. He said the Government under Mufti Mohammed Sayeed unlocked the process of development by scrapping the ban on recruitments in Government jobs, opening and up-gradation of educational institutions, launching of new road, electrification and water supply schemes.
He said the areas like Poonch, Rajouri had been kept at the tail end of development process deliberately and used only as a vote bank for decades. Mr Sharma said that the State was unsafe in the hands of Omar Abdullah and its coalition partner Congress. He said by his repeated blunders the Chief Minister had proved that he lacked basic qualities of leadership and as a result is now engaged in an unending battle for survival.
During the road-show, Yash Pal Sharma addressed meetings at Poonch- Bus Stand, Chungi, Nangali Sahib, Dingla, Chadak, Chaktroo, Sathra, Mandi, Khet, Bedar, Sawajian, Gagdiyan, Plera and Loran.
Ch Lal Hussain, Imtiyaz Banday, Shahzad Khan, Shah Mohammad Tantray, Choudhary Javed, Amar Singh Josh, Paramjeet Verma, Advocate Zaman and others also addressed meetings.
